FAQ

Q. How often should I have my eyes examined?

A. Children should have eye exams completed at annually. For healthy adults between 20 and 65 years old and no ocular problems typically recommend every two years. For seniors we recommend yearly eye exams. The frequency of eye exams can vary depending on ocular health and other systemic health factors (ie. people with diabetes should be seen at least annually if not more).

Q. Is there parking?

A. Free parking is available at both of our clinics.

Q. How long Does it take for new glasses?

A. Single vision lenses generally take 7-10 business days. Progressive and bifocals are generally completed in 2 weeks.

Q. How do I clean my anti-reflection coated lenses?

A. Use eyeglass spray cleaner formulated for anti-glare lenses. Apply the cleaner to both sides of the lens, gently rub it around with your fingers, and then dry the lenses with a soft cloth. Paper products should be avoided. The finishing touch for cleaning should be made with your anti-static cloth. Polish the lens with this, it will remove smudges and bring the lens to a shine without creating static, which attracts dust.

Q. How often should I have my glasses adjusted?

A. Ideally, your glasses should be cleaned and adjusted every four to six months. Doing so will ensure that your frames and lenses are properly aligned for optimum performance. In addition to the adjustment procedure, we will also clean your glasses with an ultrasonic cleaner.

Q. Can I get clip-on sunglasses for my frames?

A. We can make custom clip-on sunglasses for virtually every frame we stock.

Q. Do I have to be a patient to get glasses at your office?

A. Nope. Comly Eye Care welcomes all patients from any optometry clinic. Just ensure you have a copy of an up-to-date prescription.

Q. Can I put new lenses in my current frames?

A. In most cases yes, but we need to examine your existing frames to ensure a successful outcome. Because frames become more brittle as they age it will be at your own risk if any damage occurs during the manufacturing process. It’s also good to know that parts may be harder to get for an older frame if there is any breakage or damage.

Q. Do you carry designer frames?

A. Absolutely! Our selections include the top designer brands. Styles range from practical to fashionable and each location curates their own frame lines.

Q. How long does it take to get used to my new prescription?

A. Normally, a couple of days with most single vision lenses and a couple of weeks for changes in a progressive lens. For new progressive wearers it can take up to a month, but remember… everyone is different.

Q. What is a bifocal vs a Progressive Lens?

A. Bifocal lenses have two focal points and are divided into an upper half that corrects for distance vision and a lower half that corrects for near vision and has the “line” that goes across them. They only correct for those two focal distances.

Progressives lenses (also called no-line multifocal or progressive addition lenses) blends the powers so there is no line and creates a gradual transition in strength from top to bottom. The upper section corrects for distance vision, the lower section corrects for near vision, and the middle section helps you see intermediate distances. These lenses are an excellent choice for people who multitask.
